Rossmoor Woman’s Club President Susan Denley, right in photo, presents a check for $1,000 to Lina Lumme, executive director of The Youth Center in Los Alamitos. The club’s donation is part of a campaign to raise $250,000 for a permanent home for The Youth Center, whose lease on its current building next to Oak Middle School is set to expire next year. The Youth Center hopes to build a state-of-the-art permanent home on a site it recently purchased on Los Alamitos Boulevard. The non-profit center, established in 1952, provides after school and summer programs for children, leadership training for teens and music education for elementary schools in the Los Alamitos Unified School District. It served more than 3,000 clients last year. The woman’s club, which will celebrate its 65th anniversary next year, is a social and philanthropic organization serving the greater Los Alamitos/Seal Beach and Long Beach areas.
